Her husband had served in the Indian Army for 17 years and returned to his hometown after retiring three years ago. The man who came like this had been roaming around here and there, drinking well, eating and partying here and there, including in hotels.
Wife's immoral relationship with her husband's friend: Plan for murder
At the same time, he had met Pundalik Dongar, who ran an egg rice shop in Ghodageri. Instead of going to his shop, Sandeep, who was going to drink there, decided to open a hotel near the Hidkal Dam together. Within a few days of opening the hotel, a friendship had developed between retired soldier Sandeep's wife Suma and Pundalik. This friendship had turned into an immoral relationship within a few days. Suma and her lover Pundalik decided to end their relationship with their husband Sandeep, who was an obstacle to this. They were waiting for an opportunity to do so. On March 13, Sandeep Manjargi had a road accident in the limits of Yamakanamaradi police station. After the accident, the locals admitted him to the government hospital in Hukkeri. When his wife Suma went to the spot, she shifted her husband to Ghataprabha JJ Co., a private hospital in Hukkeri, saying that he needed further treatment. There, she made a master plan to make a fool of her husband. The person with minor injuries is shifted to the special ward. Later, they discuss it with Rahul Jogi, a relative of Pundalik who was working in the hospital. At this time, Rahul says that he has poisoned the saline bottle. Accordingly, on March 14, they apply insecticidal oil and rat poison once, but it does not work.

The next day, they bring a saline bottle from outside and this time they put only insecticidal medicine in it and murder him. After he dies, they pretend that he died of a heart attack. At the same time, they also lie to the Yamakanamaradi police who came to the station. But that day, the police take his body to BIMS Hospital for a postmortem. When the postmortem report and FSL report are yet to be received, the accused Suma starts to get scared.
She told her mother everything about the murder of her husband by herself and Pundalik. FDA Ashok Gujnal, who was working in the Belgaum City Police Commissioner's office, contacted him through a person known to the mother, RMP doctor Basavaraj Bhasme. From there, he introduced himself to Appasaab Naikodi, a constable in the FSL office, and then to lab assistant Chanaiah, then to senior officer Nagaraj, luring them with money and asking them to amend the murder as a heart attack. He said that he would give more than three lakhs for this. The FSL officials, who were greedy for money, reported the murder as a heart attack. Then the police also thought it was correct and handed over the body to the family, who later cremated it.

80 people arrested
Then the police got the FSL report and sent it to the lab in Bangalore. There, the report came that he died of poisoning. Based on this, the police started an investigation and arrested 80 people including his wife Suma, his girlfriend Pundalik, and the FSL scientific officer Nagaraj, who had distorted the report.
