Belthangady: Police raid beef processing shed; two accused arrested

 Belthangady: Belthangady police raided a cattle ranch and arrested two accused while they were illegally selling beef after stealing cattle. They also seized the beef and equipment.


The arrested accused have been identified as Abdul Nazir (36), son of Usman, a resident of Bedrabettu in Indabettu village in Belthangady taluk, and Zakaria (36), son of Abdul Rahman, of Mittabagilu village in Belthangady taluk.


Acting on a specific tip-off received by Belthangady police, a team led by Sub-Inspector Oman of Venur Police Station raided a private rubber plantation shed near Bedrabettu Church in Indabettu village of Belthangady taluk at 2:30 pm on October 27.


During the raid, 91 kg of beef and accessories were seized. Abdul Nazir and Zakaria, who were slaughtering beef, have been arrested. A case has been registered at Belthangady police station under sections 4,12 of the Karnataka Prevention of Cow Slaughter and Livestock Protection Act 2020 and section 33(2) BNS 2023.


Under the guidance of Inspector Subbapur Mar of Belthangady Police Station, Belthangady Sub-Inspector Anand.M and Venur Sub-Inspector Omana participated in the operation.
