A Blinkit delivery agent has been arrested by the RT Nagar police in Bengaluru on charges of sexually harassing a Brazilian model. The accused not only misbehaved with the victim during food delivery, but also touched her and sexually harassed her. The accused has been arrested and a case has been registered.
Bengaluru, October 28: Police have arrested a Blinkit delivery agent for allegedly sexually harassing a Brazilian model in the RT Nagar area of Bengaluru. The incident took place on October 17 and the accused was arrested after a complaint was filed. The FIR was registered on the basis of a complaint filed by the victim's employer. The incident took place in an apartment where the victim lives with two other women.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (North Division) Babasaheb Nemagaud confirmed that the accused Kumar Rao Pawar was taken into custody on the same day the complaint was filed. The accused is a diploma student in a private college in Bengaluru and works as a part-time delivery agent with Blinkit, the DCP informed.
According to the FIR, the model had ordered food through the Blinkit app on October 17 at around 3.20 pm. During the food delivery, the accused behaved inappropriately. He also touched the victim in a manner that violated her dignity. The victim ran inside the house in shock and fear. But it is said that she did not immediately report the incident due to fear.
A few days later, the victim told her roommates. They then informed her employer about the incident. The employer checked the CCTV footage of the apartment premises and filed a formal complaint on October 25. The accused was immediately arrested and a case was registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), police said.
