Nelamangala: It has been alleged that a panchayat librarian in the Kalalughatta panchayat area of the taluk has committed suicide by consuming poison after being harassed by the panchayat development officer.
It has been learned that the person who committed suicide has been identified as Ramachandraiah, who was a gram panchayat librarian.
It has been learned that he had been working as a part-time library supervisor for the past 25 years.
An allegation of harassment has been made against Geetamani of the Kalalughatta gram panchayat in Nelamangala taluk.
She had been harassing him without paying his salary for the past three months. It has also been learned that Ramachandraiah consumed poison after being harassed by her for not taking biometric attendance and giving her reasons for not attending.
Later, he was admitted to the hospital by locals. However, it is learned that he died at the Tumkur hospital without receiving any treatment.
A case has been registered against PDO Geethamani at the local police station in this regard.
