Bengaluru, (June 16): A POCSO case has been registered against Vachanananda Swamiji of Panchamasali Gurupeeth in Harihar, Davangere, on charges of child abuse and cruelty. However, the Davangere District Court granted anticipatory bail even before the complaint was filed, which the Karnataka High Court has expressed disapproval of. The High Court bench headed by Justice M. Nagaprasanna, which heard the petition filed by the boy's mother challenging the anticipatory bail, granted anticipatory bail even before the complaint was filed. The manner in which anticipatory bail was granted is shocking. It has been held that the manner in which anticipatory bail was granted is not correct on the face of it.

A POCSO case involving serious sections has been filed against the Swamiji. However, the High Court, which is of the opinion that the method of granting anticipatory bail is not correct on the surface, has issued a notice to Vachanananda Swamiji and fixed the next hearing for June 23.
The High Court has also expressed concern over the anticipatory bail granted by the Davangere District Court. Therefore, it is very curious whether the High Court will cancel Swamiji's bail or what verdict it will give.
The developments in this case are as follows
Swamiji's expulsion from the Panchamasali Peeth: In a meeting held at the Panchamasali Peeth near Hanagawadi in Harihar in early April, 13 out of 15 trustees participated and took a decision to expel Swamiji from the Peeth of the Math. The reason for this was the management of 2 Peeths. In 2018, the trustees here made Sri Jagadguru. Later, he was asked to choose two benches several times. But the trustees unanimously deposed him on the charge that Vachanananda Swamiji did not comply with this.
Complaint from the children of the monastery against Vachanananda Sri: The children themselves had complained that Vachanananda Swamiji abuses them with abusive words and tortures them. In this context, the Child Welfare Committee officials visited the monastery and questioned Swamiji. Also, a POCSO case was registered against Vachanananda Swamiji based on the complaint filed by the mother of a boy from the monastery, and Swamiji has already been questioned in the same case and a medical test has also been conducted.
Anticipatory bail granted: Swamiji, who was facing the threat of arrest in a case filed against him on charges of child abuse and cruelty, had filed an application in the Davangere District Court on April 21 seeking anticipatory bail.
