Bengaluru, October 31: Police have arrested former Director and Professor of Bangalore University Prof. B.C. Mylarappa (B C Mylarappa Arrest) in a case of sexual harassment of a woman. The police have taken this action based on the complaint filed by the woman at Basaveshwaranagar Police Station.
Mylarappa, who had argued for the victim in the case registered against her
The victim had joined the Karnataka Rajya Harijan Sevak Sangh run by the then Director of Bangalore University, Prof. B.C. Mylarappa, in November 2022. He had worked there for 2 years since then. During this time, her husband also died unnaturally. At this time, her mother-in-law and father-in-law had also filed a complaint that she was the reason for her husband's death. Not only that, they had also tortured the victim to transfer the property in her name to them. During this time, B.C. Mailarappa had been arguing for her in the case registered at Mahalaxmi Police Station regarding the death of her husband and the property dispute, and had been traveling a lot.
Public attack on woman
There were also many disagreements regarding the victim's share of the father's property. The victim's brother had filed a case in the court with the help of a lawyer named Raghu for a share of the father's property. Coming to know about the lawyer's frequent visits to the victim regarding this matter, Mailarappa had called the victim to a hotel to talk. When he came to visit, he gave her some documents and asked her to sign them. When the document was checked, the victim refused to sign it after seeing that it said, ‘Any problem in my life is because of lawyer Raghu.’ When she asked who he was to write and sign it like that, Mailarappa got angry and abused her in the middle of the road, grabbed her by the waist and assaulted her.
He did not remain silent and came to the woman’s house and forced her to open the door. A case was also registered in Kamakshipalya for threatening the woman. However, the woman claimed that he called her and forced her to cooperate. Basaveshwaranagar police registered a complaint based on the woman’s complaint and arrested Prof. B.C. Mailarappa.
