Tragedy in Devanahalli: Family of Four Attempts Suicide, Leaving Two Dead and Two Battling for Life

It was a priest family from Hegganahalli in Devanahalli taluk. A family of respectable people consisting of a father, mother and two sons. Something happened to that good family, by dusk the entire family had decided to join the house of death. While two have died, the condition of the other two is critical.


Devanahalli, October 31: The entire family of Kumarappa, a Brahmin community priest in Hegganahalli in Devanahalli taluk of Bengaluru Rural district, attempted suicide on Thursday, shocking the people of the entire village. Two people died in the incident, while the condition of the other two is critical. It is not known whether this happened suddenly in the family who were worshipping God, they suddenly attempted mass suicide on Thursday evening.

60-year-old Kumarappa, his wife Rama, 55, and sons Akshay and Arun attempted suicide by consuming pesticide. The eldest son of the family hanged himself after consuming pesticide. Father Kumarappa and eldest son Arun died, while the mother Rama and the youngest son, who were screaming and struggling, were rushed to the hospital in an ambulance by locals. Both are in critical condition.


Suspected mass suicide due to debt

Liquor bottles and pesticide bottles were found in the hall of the house. It is suspected that they may have committed suicide due to debt.

As soon as the information about the incident came to light, Chikkajala police and Devanahalli ACP reached the spot and conducted an investigation. The bodies have been sent to the morgue of the Yelahanka Government Hospital. The police are investigating the exact reason for the suicide. It is yet to be known whether it was due to debt or some other reason.
