A special cell of Delhi Police has busted a major terror network supported by Pakistan's intelligence agency ISI, which was planning to carry out serial bomb blasts and assassinate prominent leaders in the national capital New Delhi. Amidst the security beefed up in New Delhi on the eve of Independence Day and major festivals, the Delhi Police has successfully busted a Pakistan-backed terror network. During the operation, 7 suspected terrorists who were preparing for a heinous act were arrested and a huge cache of deadly weapons and illegal weapons were seized from them.
New Delhi, June 16: A major tragedy was averted in Delhi due to the constant vigilance and timely operations of the country's security agencies. Delhi Police has succeeded in arresting 7 active members of an international terror network, which was planning to carry out sabotage in India with the help of Pakistan. Preliminary investigation has revealed that the arrested accused had planned to target densely populated areas in Delhi and other major cities of the country during the festivals.
Special police forces, who conducted simultaneous raids in different areas of Delhi, have arrested the accused. A huge quantity of weapons has been seized from the hideouts of the arrested terrorists. A large quantity of live ammunition, various types of explosives and advanced technology communication devices have been seized. The police have confirmed that these weapons were transported through the border and delivered to Delhi to carry out sabotage activities.
According to the police investigation, the arrested accused were in constant contact with Pakistan-based terrorist organizations and their ISI handlers. They were trained in bomb making and sabotage activities from Pakistan through encrypted social media apps (e.g. Telegram, Signal).
A huge amount of money was flowing from Pakistan through hawala channels and using cryptocurrency to keep this network active, it has been detected from the examination of bank accounts. Following the discovery of this terrorist network, security has been further tightened in major cities of the country, including New Delhi. Strict checks are being carried out in crowded areas like railway stations, metro stations, airports and malls.
The 7 arrested terrorists have been produced before the court and have been remanded in police custody for further interrogation. Investigations have been intensified to find out if there are any other local accomplices behind them inside the country.
